I find that the more and more people I talk to that have decided not to vote, are changing their minds and telling me they support and will vote for me. I find that more and more I am hearing that the NDP or the Liberals do not represent the non-voting public, the disenfranchised. Our 2 party system in BC is plagued with rabid partisan politics, based on the following of ideology of left wing vs right wing, and when you choose one side, it almost always follows that the other is the enemy. Nothing could be further from the truth, people on both sides have good ideas and some good policies, but I find that the partisan worldview will not allow people to see the other side or their ideas as even remotely positive. The division tactic works well for our 2 parties in control, but makes many people turn away from politics and become the disenfranchised. I find myself in a unique position as an independent, in that I can take ALL of the good stuff from each side, without the negative drawbacks. I am not bound by a party ideology that prevents me from supporting an idea, no matter how much I like it because it came from the opposite paradigm as mine.
So I ask you, what are the main issues in BC today? I will try to address as many as I can as soon as I can, so leave a comment below, and share this post with others so we can get as many people involved in the discussion as possible.
It is time for BC to move past our divisive politics of NDP vs Liberals, and move towards a more voluntary participatory system that can be win win for everyone, rather then win for some and lose for others. Politics does not have to have losers, when the citizens have more power and more choice, I believe we all win.
